[mslee's thoughts] Can We Love - The Drama Is Real As It Can Be With An Irritating Twist That Captivates

Updating my thoughts...

Tonight is the 13th episode and the drama is still captivating me. Though the plot is becoming a bit messy because of Sun Mi being pregnant and trying to pass it on over to Kyung Soo who is still clueless is giving me irritation and annoyance to the max!

The story is very realistic and the dysfunctional family of Ji Hyun is both a cliche' and an eye opener for someone like me who only knows how to let go of something that is not working anymore. But unlike me, here is Ji Hyun trying very hard to stay and endure humiliations from the mother in law, making up for her secrets of the past gone unravelled in front of her husband with a teenage daughter pregnant and alone. All these are so much to take in but her character is so strong in the midst of her vulnerability as a woman weakened by fears and of feeling a failure as a woman, both mother and wife.

The story has told how Kyung Soo, the director, tried his best to gain the trust of Tae Hyuk, Jung Wan's son. He cares deeply towards Jung Wan and accepts her for who she is, a divorcee with a lot of worries in her hands. But he makes her laugh, which is very important to someone like her. I thought everything will be alright but from previous episodes, the wavering ex-husband Han Joon Mo invades Jung Wan's peaceful life and tried to come back to her. His insecurities making him anxious as a man. I was just glad that between the two, Jung Wan remained logical despite her problems with Sun Mi and kept her ex husband at bay, talking to him sensibly.

The twist that made me smile is that Do Young's bratty sister realized that Jung Wan is not anymore after Joon Mo but is in a relationship with her cousin, Kyung Soo. After being a match maker I came to like her character even though it was childish of her which is natural for a rich spoiled girl.

As a viewer I am hooked towards the tangled story of Ji Hyun, Do Young, Yoo Kyung and the people around them that made them this way. I love the fact that Do Young was happy to know his daughter and that he is making necessary legal matter to be taken if Yoo Kyung will be sent to the US for her studies as Gyu Sik had intentionally decided to stop the existence of the relationship of his wife to Do Young. I want to grit my teeth every time Tae Hyun, Ji Hyun's brother reasoned with his rights and his share of upbringing of Yoo Kyung. In the first place ti was his fault that Do Young and Ji Hyun separated.

Regarding Se Ra, the story is still not wrapping up her part. The misery remains and Ji Hyun is still upset about the turn out of events. The good thing is that Se Rae found out that her father can also lie to her about not being able to contact Andrew's family. It was also his father's decision not to make the baby be adopted. It was somehow made Se Ra realized that she should not only rely and believe her father but her mother do loves her and understand her. I am still waiting, though of when the secret about Yoo Kyung will be revealed to Se Ra and the consequence of learning the truth.

Sun Mi on the other hand is emotionally making Jung Wan waver and falter about her relationship with Kyung Soo. The way she told Jung Wan about her pregnancy was very devious and requesting that she end the relationship with Kyung Soo. Sun Mi is being callous and calculating, thinking she can snatch Kyung Soo's affections once Jung Wan is out of the picture, then revealing the pregnancy much later.

The lack of communication between Jung Wan and Kyung Soo is irritating and annoying me even up to this current episode. The break up was final tonight. She let him go with out telling the real reason. I hoped for a mature sit down talk between them and laying all the cards, no secrets but up to the end, JUng Wan chose to sacrifice her happiness for a wicked friend Sun Mi. Kyung Soo is in misery but I do hope that he will be intelligent enough to process all pieces once he finds out about Sun Mi's pregnancy. The only thing giving me hope is Yoon Seok who knew Sun Mi carrying a baby. He knew they slept together and with tonight's episode seemed that he was counting the days with the OB book in his hands. Go Yoon Seok! You should figure it out soon and make Sun Mi come out clean about the baby.

Episode 13 finished tonight and the interesting part was that at the end Sun Mi was in the hospital with Kyung Soo finding out her being pregnant!

Huh! He is not a fool if I want to believe that the writer will not make him one. Oh please, enough of stupidity in K-drama and let Kyung Soo put down his foot and stop the nonsense going on between Sun Mi and Jung Wan.

The actors are doing a great job of portraying the roles.

So far, these are my thoughts of the drama.
