f(x)‘s Sulli has recently come under fire for swearing in Chinese on broadcast.
On the most recent episode of “Running Man” that aired on July 14, footage of Sulli swearing in Chinese was broadcast, causing a belated buzz.
The episode had guests Park Ji Sung and Patrice Evra along with Sulli for the 2013 Asian Dream Cup, which is to be hosted in Shanghai this year.
During the episode, Sulli, Ji Suk Jin and Gary were cheering on Kim Jong Gook, Lee Kwang Soo, Yoo Jae Sukand Haha, who were chosen as athletes. There was a part where the staff and celebrities were talking about a Korean news article where Sulli was heard swearing in Chinese. The swear word is supposedly equivalent to the English swear word, “motherf–ker.”
After the controversy ensued, SM Entertainment commented, “At the time of incident, the staff and celebrities were talking about the Chinese language. That’s when the swear word came out,” and “Sulli didn’t know it was a swear word. Sulli was just imitating the word without knowing what it meant and that part did not get edited out.”
The “Running Man” production team commented, “We didn’t know that Sulli’s voice aired. It is the editing team’s mistake,” and “We will edit that certain part out for the reruns. We will be more careful so this kind of thing does not happen in the future.”
